The Lav Concealer is a soft, pliable rubber mount that covers many different mounting options for your lavalier microphone.
The Lav Concealer is the essential lav mic tool for film, TV, theatre and any other time your lavalier mic needs to be hidden, yet still sound good. The Lav Concealer range covers 15 different lav microphone models: Sanken COS-11, DPA Microphones 4060, 4071 and 6060 lav mics, the Countryman B3 and B6, the RØDE Lavalier (RØDE Wireless Go, SmartLav+), the Deity W.Lav Pro and W.Lav Micro, the Sony ECM-77 and ECM-V1 (Sony UWP-D), and the Sennheiser MKE 1, MKE 2, ME2 (Sennheiser G3, Tentacle Track-E, Tascam DR-10L) and ME2-II (Sennheiser G4, AVX, XSW-D). Made from natural organic rubber, The Lav Concealer also helps to absorb friction noise and shock.
In this video, Chris shows you how to mount and umount your lav mic quickly and easily in The Lav Concealer.
MOUNTING THE LAV CONCEALER
REMOVE METAL WORK (0:24)
Remove the metal work from around The Lav Concealer, including the fabric guard and the clothing clip. This allows The Lav Concealer to be more flexible as you insert your lav mic.
CLEAN YOUR LAV MIC (0:30)
Check that your lavalier microphone is clean; if it's not, then you can use a microfibre cloth. You can also use an alcohol wipe for stubborn bits of dirt. If you're not sure if you can use alcohol wipes on your lav mic, it's worth checking your manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
BEND THE LAV CONCEALER (0:40)
Bend The Lav Concealer in half between your fingers to give you a clear view of the entry hole. Holding your lavalier mic by the body - not the cable - insert your lav mic all the way to the top of The Lav Concealer. We want to avoid putting any kind of pressure on the cable to minimise the risk of breakage.
SPRING BACK (0:53)
Finally, let The Lav Concealer spring back around the contours of its dedicated microphone capsule for a perfect fit.

BEND THE LAV CONCEALER (1:00)
Bend The Lav Concealer in half again, as you did when you inserted the lav microphone.
GRAB THE BODY OF THE LAV MIC (1:07)
Grab the lav mic by its body and give it a little wiggle whilst pulling out of The Lav Concealer. This is the easiest way to remove your lavalier mic whilst keeping any additional grids or caps intact.
